The 2024 Language Access Education Series is part of the Language Access Collaborative, an initiative that brings together teams of North Carolina local governments and community-based organizations to build bridges of communication. Sign up below to learn about multilingual workforce development and capacity building around immigrant integration, linguistic accessibility, and public policies and practices in North Carolina.

The Language Access Collaborative and 2024 Education Series are facilitated by the Institute for the Study of the Americas at UNC-Chapel Hill. Interpretation for the Education Series will be provided in English and Spanish.

Language Access in a Trilingual Environment: Working with Deaf and Spanish-Speaking Communities

April 30th from 9:30am-10:45am
This webinar will provide an overview of key terms and available resources when working with deaf and hard of hearing individuals. ASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided. The discussion will also provide communication options for situations when both Sign Language and spoken Spanish interpretation are needed.

Language Access for Haitian Creole / Kreyòl speakers in NC

June 4 from 9:30am-10:45am
This webinar will provide context for the Haitian Creole language spoken in North Carolina by community members and share examples of how local governments and community agencies can provide language access.
