Smithsonian sneak preview

smithosonian2LMP Alum Alma Islas Romero (right) shows off her graduation cap and gown with Ariana Curtis (left), Curator at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum. Ariana traveled to North Carolina this week to interview Alma, who has contributed to the LMP’s New Roots/Nuevas Raíces Latino Oral Histories and traveled to Guanajuato in spring 2016 with APPLES Global Course Guanajuato.

This interview will be featured in a new Smithsonian exhibit called Unconventional Gateways, which investigates Latino immigration and migration in Washington, D.C.; Maryland; and North Carolina. The exhibit will open in December 2016.
Stay tuned for more on this exciting collaboration!
